Life-sketch of Waseqa Ayesha Khan (MP), Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Finance

 

 

Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP has been representing Chattogram for the consecutive third Term in the Bangladesh Parliament and is a fourth generation public representative.

On March 1, 2024 Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP took oath as the State Minister of Finance of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. In the 11th National Parliament, she successfully served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.She also served as a member of two Financial Oversight Committees; in the Public Accounts Committee and in the Committee on Estimates, during the 10th and 11th National Parliament.

Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP was elected as Finance and Planning Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Executive Council for the first time in 2019 and for the second time in 2022. She successfully served as the Member Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Observers Coordination Sub-Committee in 12th National Parliament. She represented the Asia-Pacific Group for three years in the Bureau of Women MPs of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP was a Banker by profession, having held senior management positions in two well-known multinational banks spanning a career of 17 years. An Accountant by training, she has a post graduate degree in Accountancy. She is an active Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow and a Capstone Course alumnus of the National Defence College.
